The clock just struck midnight and I’m extremely exhausted so I’ll give you a brief summary and hopefully other people will reblog and add their comments to further explain.
The reason why I think it’s wrong is because it’s sort of like putting a person on display at a museum? Does that make sense? Or maybe it’s like putting a person on a pedestal?
I’m really tired so my metaphors aren’t exactly at the level of Uncle Iroh.
Anyway, there are people with disabilities who are inspirational and do inspirational things and overcome so much. I get that.
But there are also people who think that a person with a disability is an inspiration just for leaving their house in the morning or doing other simple tasks or even for existing in general and that mindset is just wrong to me.
Again, if other people are reading this response please add to it because I’m about to fall asleep. Goodnight.
Sometimes, I’m happy to inspire people.
But that doesn’t mean I live to inspire you.
Our purpose in life is not to benefit you.
We are people too. Not an after-school special.
This is important and is something people should put effort into understanding.
The next time I complain about not having anything to wear… show me this picture. (and punch me in the face)
I think what I like the most about Pacific Rim is that the standard fighting procedure for the Jaeger Program is PUNCH IT IN THE FUCKING FACE.
